Mote-Keys

config window screenshot Mote-Keys is a free and open source tool designed to provide an easy-to-use alternative for catching messages from WinLIRC and converting them into virtual keypresses on your pc (windows only). Mote-Keys is great for using a homeade receiver with WinLIRC to control your pc, home theater, media pc, gaming pc, and more.

Mote-Keys is only designed to work along-side WinLIRC. WinLIRC in a windows equivalent to LIRC and is made to receive and transmit ir signals. You can find out more about and download WinLIRC here: http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/.

Mote-Keys runs in the background on your computer and has a simple configuration window that lets you add button names (that you set in WinLIRC) and assign keys to use when those buttons are detected. Support has now been added for special key combination such as ALT-F4, CTRL-ALT-DELETE, and CTRL-P. Using these options (ALT,CTRL,SHIFT) you have access to a vast number of possible keyboard shortcuts that you can use to make your computer do what you want. Award Received!

award image I have received an email from Softpedia that alerted me that Mote-Keys was added to their database of software for windows.
They reported that Mote-Keys was thoroughly tested in the Softpedia labs using several industry-leading security solutions and found to be completely clean of adware/spyware components.
They did a rather shabby job of setting up its page but I plan on contacting them to get things cleaned up a bit.
To the left is the award they granted Mote-Keys. Click the image for more details.
